Here we are again! It's Tuesday, so let's chat about anything you want. I'm still dealing with my sciatica attack and I'm wrapped with pain but I'm here for an hour of dictating replies to your questions!
Darn dictation...racked with pain, that is.
Did you know that if your phone has a little microphone on the keyboard such that you can dictate, you can dictate your questions and comments into Wisdo. Of course, for punctuation marks, you actually have to say the name for them for them to appear.
For those in my cohort, I'm sure you remember the Ed Sullivan Show. Since I mentioned having to say the name for a comma in order for the comma to appear, it reminds me of a great comedy routine by that amazing entertainer, Victor Borge. Here's a link to "Phonetic Punctuation" that just cracks me up!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFzMWml_X5o
As those of you who have been following my weekly meeting threads know, I LOVE comedy and find a lot of great stuff on YouTube. Here's something rather different: A Dating Game episode where the bachelorette's last name is the same as the one of three bachelors she selects. She's already famous, and he's about to become more so than he may ever could have imagined! Enjoy!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ITkTe5gutM
Oh shoot! I just gave her choice away!! Boo...
One of my favorite comedians/comedic actors was Buddy Hackett. Whatever he did just had me rolling on the floor laughing out loud, and I'm proud to say that was before ROFLOL!! First seeing him in the 1962 production of The Music Man as Marcellus Washburn singing "Shipoopi", I was hooked! Here he is on the Tonight Show (with the inimitable Johnny Carson) telling one of the best jokes ever! Starts at about 3 1/2 minutes into this clip, but all is funny (if you've got MY sense of humor, that is...) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aww4HT5g7ig&t=1s
Now for a somewhat older Victor Borge, who aged as well as a fine wine or perhaps a stinky cheese... In any event, here's a short clip called Funniest Joke I Ever Heard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDTrq7gQxIo May all those who lived on this earth and tried so hard to make us laugh be blessed in the afterlife, whatever it may be or be not.
